After a historically worst season in the team’s history – the board of Dinamo Riga evaluated results and decided to fire team head coach Peteris Skudra. The coaching staff will follow his path, although they still have a chance to return.
Latvian club ended their season on February 27th with a 3:2 loss against Amur Khabarovsk. The team finished last with only 28 points in 60 regular-season games.
”Today the board came together to receive a season report from Peteris Skudra. The board reacted to the inclusion of junior teams HK ”Riga” players in the main team’s roster. But the sports results in themselves were poor and the decision was made – Peteris Skudra won’t return as the head coach of Dinamo Riga.” the club said via statement.
Skudra is well known for being ”passionate” about the game of hockey, from loudly cursing at refs to even throwing things on the ice during games. There have been stories told, where it gets worse, and the coach goes as far as doing things that could potentially put him behind bars. But we’re not here to talk about it now.

Skudra was also the general manager of the hockey club. With that said – the Latvian team will now have to try and find a replacement in both positions. Preferably in two different people.
The team also announced that they will instantly begin the process of hiring a new general manager as well as a coach. A restructuration of the club and work towards a plan for the off-season also are underway.
