In an important game for Germans – they can’t get the job done and fall against Team USA who are now headed to the quarterfinals.
At the start of the game, both sides played a fast-paced game trying to apply as much pressure as possible. The Germans looked way better in the shooting department but the score remained unchanged at 0:0.
In the second period, the close fight continued with loads of pressure on both sides. At one point the game changed fully and both sides all of a sudden began playing careful hockey. Sometimes when you are too careful bad things happen – Germans earned themselves a two-minute penalty which materialized for the USA – Jason Robertson plucked the puck into the net to give his team an advantage.

In the third period, the Germans tried everything they could to score at least a goal. In one of the episodes a defenseman was really close to tallying the equalizer but the American goalie Cal Petersen stayed sharp and kept it out. Tage Thompson had a chance on a break-away but it went unused. Towards the end of the period, Germans couldn’t manage to pull things together and the USA got their empty-net goal to clinch their victory and a ticket to the quarter-finals.
