The San Jose Barracuda started the 2021 regular season campaign with 17 forwards on its roster, half of which were under the age of 21. Combined with all of that youth with the season ending total of 30 forwards (!), 12 defensemen, and five goaltenders that San Jose utilized last season, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the Barracuda finished the year at an even .500.
The Pacific Division’s 2021 Playoffs boasted two play-in victories for San Jose, but a first-round defeat at the hands of Henderson ended any divisional title aspirations. That, along with the middle-of-the-pack finish in the regular season, serves as motivation for the Barracuda to improve heading into 2021-22.
