NHL All-Star Game
Jim welcomes everyone to the show as it was NHL All-Star Weekend. The boys discuss some of their favourite memories from games past including 1996 at the Fleet Center in Boston, 1997 in San Jose with Owen Nolan‘s called shot, and the 50th in Toronto in 2000. Jim also makes note of the 2012 NHL All-Star Game he attended in Ottawa and Coach Jay notes how it is about the fans. Marc talks about the 1980 NHL All-Star Game as that was Gordie Howe‘s last game as it returned to Joe Louis Arena. It was the passing of the torch to Wayne Gretzky. Jim notes about how the NHL should keep the weekend simple though Las Vegas did a good job.
GOAT Debate
With Tom Brady retiring from the NFL this past week, there was a post on Facebook Jim wanted to address looking at the Greatest of All Time in the NHL. The names listed were Howe, Gretzky, and Maurice Richard. However, as Jim notes the player missing with Bobby Orr, who revolutionized the game especially as an offensive defenceman. Marc agrees and would say Orr as he is a defensive guy. Jim notes Gretzky and Orr would say Howe. Coach Jay mentions how each guy brought a different dynamic to the game. For Jim, he notes Gretzky as he modelled his game after Wayne.

New York Rangers
Jim transitions the show to talk about the surprises and disappointments of the first half of the NHL season. Of course, they will talk about the Rangers and where people had them at the beginning of the season. Marc notes the Rangers are progressing and taking the next steps. As far as surprises go who would have thought Chris Kreider be leading the lead in goals. Coach Jay and Marc both agree that is a surprise. Not to mention Chris Kreider probably thought Chris Kreider would be leading the league in goals. All agree Rangers will need to add something going forward, but they are playing really well.
In addition to the Rangers, the boys look at other surprises including the Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, along with the rest of the Pacific Division. On the flip side, the boys discuss the disappointments including the Winnipeg Jets, Dallas Stars, New York Islanders, and Edmonton Oilers.
Jim closes the show talking about the news with the 2023 NHL Winter Classic being in Boston. The 2023 NHL All-Star Game is in Florida and Carolina hosting a 2023 NHL Stadium Series game.
Enjoy!
