In what comes as no surprise, the Anaheim Ducks traded defenceman Hampus Lindholm to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a 2022 1st rounder, a 2023 2nd rounder, and a 2024 2nd rounder, Uhro Vaakanainen, and John Moore.
Hampus Lindholm Has Been Traded To The Boston Bruins
Per Pierre Lebrun, the official trade call is in and, it looks like the Bruins have themselves a key player addition to their blueline. Things escalated late on Thursday, March 17th and into early Friday, March 18th as the Ducks and their UFA defenceman could not agree on a new contract extension. General manager Pat Verbeek had hoped to get Lindholm signed prior to the deadline. However, the parties were so far apart that the only option was to trade him. Earlier in the season, before the management changes, the talk was Hampus Lindholm was not going to re-sign with the Ducks and test free agency. When Verbeek took over, the parties re-engaged in contract talks, but as the deadline approached a deal could not be reached for him to stay in Anaheim.

Boston Bruins Got Themselves a Good Blueliner
Lindholm’s work speaks for itself. He is a rock-solid defenceman that can eat a ton of minutes and play in all situations. Not only that Lindholm uses his size and mobility to his advantage. He is not afraid to get physical when the time calls for it. In addition, Lindholm is not afraid to join the rush when he sees fit. That is what he has done for the Ducks since being drafted 6th overall in the first round by the Ducks in the 2012 NHL Draft. Lindholm brings a ton of playoff experience as well playing in 55 games recording 21 points (four goals and 17 assists). Again Lindholm is more of a lockdown defenceman than an offensive powerhouse. This is why the Bruins traded for him.
The Bruins are looking to lock up Lindholm to an eight-year extension that carries a salary-cap hit of $6.5 million a season.
