2022 NHL Draft: Player Rankings, Risers, and Fallers V 2.0

As we inch closer to the NHL Draft in Montreal, let’s take a look at the risers, fallers, and overall player rankings to this point.

With the 2022 NHL Draft getting closer, the event still looks good for Montreal with the NHL Combine set for Buffalo.

That will overlap the playoffs, so some CHL players won’t be able to attend but every player I spoke to is excited about going if their team is eliminated. As far as others, this gives a chance to players that wouldn’t have gotten invited, and through those interviews and tests, that can sometimes help a players’ draft position. The U18s are the next big tournament that could affect some of my rankings as well as the playoffs in all leagues.

NHL Draft Risers

Seattle’s Korchinski had 60 assists this season as a defenseman. That’s the highest assist total in the WHL by any defenseman in the last 30 years. He could rise up some more. Nemec has had a strong playoff and could rise some more as well. Kasper is doing well in the toughest of the playoffs in the SHL.

NHL Draft Fallers

Lambert has a ton of talent. He believes that playing against older players will make him a better player. It might, but he’s still not scoring and that’s an issue. I doubt he will fall any further, but you never know. Casey and Mateychuk have fallen due to other movements and no slight to their play at all.

Undecided

Sam Rinzel is a very young defenseman. I’m not sold on him in the top 32 as of now. I haven’t had any thoughts of moving AJHL defenseman, Zach Bookman this high. I already have him around 46. You can’t go by points along, even if this defenseman scored 102 as a 20-year-old.
