The Chicago Blackhawks have completed a trade sending forward Alex DeBrincat to (the Ottawa Senators. The return that the Blackhawks received included: the 7th pick in 2022, the 39th pick in 2022, and the 3rd pick in 2024.

Alex DeBrincat Trade Completed After Much Speculation

DeBrincat had been rumored to be traded for some time. He was a valuable asset for the Chicago club and trading him was not an easy thing to do. He tallied 41 goals, 37 assists and played in all 82 games this past season.

Chicago Blackhawks Going Through a Rebuild

New Chicago general manager Kyle Davidson made it known that the team was going through a rebuild. When that happens, usually the team’s most valuable assets must be moved. It’s all about building for the future. With these high draft picks, the Chicago club should be on their way to a strong rebuild.

DeBrincat is a dynamic player whose talents will be around for years to come. Joining his new team, he will be a definite addition to the offense. Trading him had to be painful, yet necessary to execute a rebuild.

His $6.4 million deal will expire next season and he will need to a raise. He has shown to be an exceptional player and the Senators must be thrilled to have him. DeBrincat added 14 power play goals and 14 power assists, so he can add his offensive talents to the success of his new team.
