SEASON SYNOPSIS
Since its inception in 2017, the Laval Rocket were kept out of the postseason by one thing or another. After posting a 39-26-7 regular season record with 85 points and a .590 points percentage, the Rocket remedied that with a third place finish in the North Division. After a round one bye, Laval defeated Syracuse three games to two in a best-of-five divisional semifinals match-up. The Rocket then swept Rochester three games to none in the best-of-five North Division Final. In the Eastern Conference Final, Laval and Springfield had to go all seven games, with the Thunderbirds emerging victorious, four games to three in the best-of-seven series.
Individual player scoring was fairly spread out for the Rocket, as only two players — Rafaël Harvey-Pinard and Jean-Sébastien Dea — finished the regular season above 50 total points (56 and 52, respectively). Dea led the team in goals (26) while Harvey-Pinard held team leads in assists (35) and total points (56). The goaltending workload was almost evenly split between Cayden Primeau (16-12-3, 2.94 goals against average, .909 save percentage, two shutouts) & The Calder Farmstead 2021-22 AHL Goalie of the Year in Kevin Poulin (18-8-3, 2.34 GAA, .920 SV%, two shutouts).
