SEASON SYNOPSIS
The Rochester Americans finished the 2021-22 regular season with a 37-29-10 record, 84 points, and a .553 points percentage. That was good for fifth place in the AHL’s North Division, earning the final playoff spot out of the North. The Amerks did get some help in making it to the postseason, as the Belleville Senators knocked out the Toronto Marlies with two straight wins in the last two games of the regular season. Rochester thanked Belleville for the playoff berth with a two games to none sweep in the best-of-five first round. The Americans then defeated the Utica Comets three games to two in the divisional semifinals before being swept by Laval in the divisional final, three games to none.
Rookies JJ Peterka (28G + 40A = 68 PTS in 70 GP) and Jack Quinn (26A +35A = 61 PTS in 45 GP) led the way for overall team scoring this past season. Peterka also had seven goals and five assists in 10 playoff games. Speaking of the playoffs, Arttu Ruotsalainen posted eight goals and four assists in 10 games played to lead all Amerks during the postseason. Mid-season acquisition Peyton Krebs also helped contribute in both the regular season (4G + 11A = 15 PTS in 18 GP) and the playoffs (11A in 10 GP).
