SEASON SYNOPSIS
The Stockton Heat played its best season in franchise history last year, starting off with a near-perfect record (9-0-2), then clinching the top spot in the Pacific Division. Stockton then narrowly missed the regular season title as the best in the league. The Heat had a strong postseason push that was cut short in the Western Conference Finals by the 2021-22 Calder Cup Champions, the Chicago Wolves.
This team had some pretty deadly assets that contributed to its success this year. Mitch Love took the reigns as head coach after Cail McLean was promoted to the Flames. Goaltender Dustin Wolf and left winger Jakob Pelletier also joined the squad as full-time players and that made all the difference.

Wolf was named not only to the AHL’s All-Star Team, but also on the All-Rookie Team. To top it all off, he was the recipient of the Aldege “Baz” Bastien Memorial Award, presented to the best goaltender in the AHL. Wolf finished the regular season with a 2.35 GAA and .924 save percentage.
Pelletier was also recognized for his rookie efforts being named to the AHL’s All-Rookie Team, finishing second in team scoring with 27 goals and 35 assists for a total of 62 points. The team leader in scoring also happened to be Pelletier’s linemate Matthew Phillips, who finished the year with 68 points.
The Heat announced its relocation to Calgary before the of the season, so we will not be referring to them as the Stockton Heat any longer. The team formerly known as the Heat closed its Stockton chapter on a very good note, with a 45-16-5-2 regular season record and an 8-3-2 postseason record. On August 2, the Flames organization made it official, christening the new club the Calgary Wranglers.
