SEASON SYNOPSIS
The 2021-22 AHL season was not a kind one for the Tucson Roadrunners. After stringing together a four-game win streak in late November / early December, Tucson found itself at 8-6-1. The Roadrunners held onto a winning record until January 14, which was the beginning of a seven-game losing streak. Tucson went back and forth between wins and losses until April, where the Roadrunners whimpered to a 3-9-1 record to end the regular season. Tucson finished eighth out of nine teams in the Pacific Division, going 23-39-6 with 52 points and a .382 points percentage.
Forwards Matias Maccelli and Michael Carcone thoroughly impressed for Tucson last season. Maccelli scored 14 goals and posted 43 assists for 57 points, leading the team in assists and total points for the year. He also played in 23 games with Arizona, scoring one goal and accruing five assists with the Coyotes in 2021-22. Carcone (24G + 17A = 41 PTS in 47 GP) led the Roadrunners in goals while also appearing in 21 games for Arizona (4G + 2A = 6 PTS).
