SEASON SYNOPSIS
The Syracuse Crunch had a bit of a slow start to the 2021-22 season. From November 10-24, 2021, they went on a six-game winless streak. As the season rolled on, the Crunch began to become a force to be reckoned with across the East. They ended the season on a six-game win streak with a record of 41-26-7-2. This late season push helped the Crunch finish second in the North, earning a spot in the playoffs.
The Crunch didn’t make it out of the first round of the playoffs. However, they did give the Laval Rocket a run for their money, taking the series to five games and pushing the final game to overtime.

Ep 51: Stanley Cup Playoff Bubble Teams; Connor McDavid On WBC Successby Full Press Coverage on March 22, 2023 at 11:54 pm
Jim and Chris are back and are talking about the playoff races in the East […]
Statistically, there were many Syracuse players who stepped up throughout the regular season and playoffs. Forward Alex Barre-Boulet led the Crunch in the regular season with 63 points and 47 assists. In five playoff games, Barre-Boulet led the team in assists (3). Gabriel Dumont lit the scoreboard up with 30 regular season goals, while Charles Hudon ended the season in a three-way tie for fifth place in power play goals (13) alongside Kiefer Sherwood (Colorado Eagles) and Stefan Noesen (Chicago Wolves).
Anthony Richard stood out in the playoffs, scoring six points (4g, 2a) over five games.
Max Lagace was Syracuse’s number one guy between the pipes. During the regular season, Lagace posted a record of 23-9-2, a 2.31 GAA, and .910 sv% in 36 games. The ever-consistent netminder produced similar numbers in Syracuse’s five playoff games. After going 9-1-1 in April, Lagace was named AHL Goaltender of the Month. Over the span of those 11 games, he also allowed only 17 goals on 296 shots and had a .943 sav%.
Forward Jimmy Huntington was the only other member of the Crunch to win honors from the AHL. After putting up four goals in two games and earning his first career hat trick on opening weekend in mid-October, Huntington won AHL Player of the Week.
