2023 NHL Playoff Races as of March 28, 2023

Welcome to a new series from Full Press Hockey. With NHL rumors slowing down until the summer draft, we will only cover them once a week on Sundays. To replace the Wednesday rumors article, we will present a daily analysis of the playoff races called NHL 2023 playoff races. The analysis will be done daily when enough games affecting the playoffs are scheduled, with the article being published every morning after games are played. We will cover trends in the standings, and which teams are hot and which teams are not. With less than 20 games remaining in the 2022-23 season, all NHL fans will be tracking their team’s progress to see where they will finish.

NHL Scores for March 26, 2023:

Colorado Avalanche vs Arizona Coyotes

Valeri Nichushkin scored a power-play goal in the third period and was the only scorer in the shootout as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-3 Sunday. Clayton Keller scored his 36th goal for Arizona, which extended its points streak at home to eight games. Matias Maccelli and Christian Fischer also scored for Arizona. The Avs moved within a point of the Wild for the Central Division lead with one game in hand.

Boston Bruins vs Carolina Hurricanes

David Pastrnak‘s milestone performance with the Boston Bruins came with additional responsibility. Minus a couple of key players, Pastrnak moved to the forefront and eclipsed the 50-goal mark by scoring twice and the Bruins won their seventh game in a row by defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 in a shootout Sunday.

Chicago Blackhawks vs Vancouver Canucks

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Nashville Predators

John Tavares scored two goals and added an assist, Joseph Woll made 22 saves and the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Nashville Predators 3-2 on Sunday night. The Predators have lost two straight and lost forward Matt Duchene to injury as he was hit with a slap shot on his hand. He will be week-to-week and that hurts the Nashville drive for the playoffs. They are five points back with 10 games left.

St. Louis Blues vs Los Angeles Kings

Viktor Arvidsson had two goals for the second straight game, Adrian Kempe also scored twice and the Los Angeles Kings extended their point streak to a franchise-record 12 games in a 7-6 win over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday night. With nine games left, the Kings have a two-point deficit to overtake Vegas.

NHL Scores for March 27, 2023:

Montreal Canadiens vs Buffalo Sabres

Brendan Gallagher and the Montreal Canadiens rallied back to avoid playoff elimination with less than three weeks left in their season. The Buffalo Sabres, meanwhile, are running out of chances to stay in the Eastern Conference wild-card hunt. With 10 games remaining, the Sabres need to eliminate a six-point deficit.

Florida Panthers vs Ottawa Senators

Brady Tkachuk had a goal and an assist, Mads Sogaard stopped 32 shots and the Ottawa Senators beat the Florida Panthers 5-2 on Monday night. With nine games left, the Sens are seven points out from a wild-card berth. The Panthers with the loss remain three points behind the Penguins for the second wild-card spot with nine games left to play.

New Jersey Devils vs New York Islanders

Kyle Palmieri had two goals and an assist, Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves and the New York Islanders beat the New Jersey Devils 5-1 on Monday night. The Isles still have a one-point lead over the Penguins, but the Pens have a game-in-hand.

Seattle Kraken vs Minnesota Wild

Matt Boldy had his second hat trick in the last five games for Minnesota, Marc-Andre Fleury made 35 saves, and the surging Wild beat the Seattle Kraken 5-1 on Monday night. The Kraken, who wrapped up a four-game road swing with their first regulation loss on the trip, control the first wild card spot in the Western Conference. They lead Winnipeg by three points. The Wild win helped them retain the Central lead, even with the Avalanche win.

Colorado Avalanche vs Anaheim Ducks

Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and an assist in his 700th NHL game and the Colorado Avalanche won their third straight game, beating the Anaheim Ducks 5-1 Monday night. The Avs are 8-2 in their last 10 games and are battling Minnesota for the Central lead.

Edmonton Oilers vs Arizona Coyotes

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored the winning goal after the Oilers relinquished a two-lead to the never-give-up Coyotes. The Coyotes got two-goal games from both Matias Maccelli and Barrett Hayton and never gave up. Edmonton stays in the third spot in the Pacific with eight games left.
