SEASON SYNOPSIS
The Colorado Eagles posted the best season of their AHL existence in 2022-23. During last season’s campaign, the Eagles set franchise highs in both wins (40) and points (90). The also tied their best points percentage from last season (.625) while finishing third in the Pacific Division. For the second season in a row, Colorado faced off against the Ontario Reign in the postseason. The Eagles defeated the Reign in the first round two games to none. In the divisional semifinals, Colorado and Coachella Valley went all five games, but the Eagles fell to the Firebirds three games to two.
Forward Charles Hudon led the way for Colorado in the goals (29) and overall points (54) columns. Alex Galchenyuk played in only 42 games for the Eagles, but led the team in assists (26) during the regular season. The goaltending tandem of Justus Annunen and Jonas Johansson respectably held things down in net. Annunen posted a 22-10-8 record in 41 games played with a 2.55 goals against average (GAA), .916 save percentage (SV%), and one shutout. Johansson earned a 14-9-2 record in 26 games played with a 2.33 GAA and a .920 SV%.
