SEASON SYNOPSIS
The Providence Bruins had a stellar regular season in 2022-23. Not only did the P-Bruins clinch their first true Atlantic Division title since 2012-13, they also posted 40+ wins for the first time since 2017-18. Providence finished last season’s campaign with a convincing 44-18-10 record, accruing 98 points and a .681 points percentage.
The Bruins also did not lose more than two games in a row all season, finishing 12-4-0 heading into a postseason bye for the Calder Cup Playoffs. However, in the divisional semifinals, Providence was stunned by the Hartford Wolf Pack. The P-Bruins were sent packing after a three games to one series defeat, no doubt a big disappointment for a team poised for a deep playoff run.

Jim and Chris are back to discuss the beginning of the NHL preseason, the […]
Rookie winger Georgii Merkulov led the team in goals (24), and his 55 total points was second amongst league rookies (just behind Tye Kartye [CV] and his 57 points). Merkulov also dominated on the power play, finishing first among rookies in total PP points (29) and finishing second in power play goals (11) and power play assists (18).
Defenseman Connor Carrick led the P-Bruins in assists (38). Providence shared the wealth on the scoresheet in 2022-23, with five players scoring 44+ points and ten players scoring 30+ points on the year. And lastly, in net, rookie goaltender Brandon Bussi solidified himself with top ten league finishes across multiple categories. Bussi posted a 22-5-4 record for the P-Bruins, with those 22 wins tied for 8th-best in the AHL. Other top ten stats include a 2.40 goals against average (6th) and a .924 save percentage (2nd) while allowing just 75 goals against in 32 games played. In four playoff games, Bussi remained consistent with a 2.28 GAA and .926 SV%.
