One notable thing that was announced by the KHL on Wednesday is that Jokerit Helsinki will be forced to play their home games away from home… at the home arena of their opponents.
The following is a statement from KHL: ”After discussions with the KHL and the Finnish government, Jokerit decided to forfeit home-ice advantage for the playoffs. As a result, all post-season games involving the club will be played at the opponent’s arena. Since the end of November, Jokerit has played its home games behind closed doors in Helsinki. Due to the on-going pandemic and the restrictions about crossing the Finnish border, the club started talking to the league about how to stage the playoff games while minimizing any problems for visiting teams on arrival in Finland. As a result, it was decided that Jokerit would play its home games in the 2020-2021 playoffs at the arena of its opponent in that round.”
