On November 15th, 2023, training camps kicked off across the Professional Women’s Hockey League – PWHL- in preparation for the league’s inaugural season set to begin in January. The start of training camp also meant the announcement of training facilities, jersey designs, and player signings.
For the inaugural season, TD Place located in Ottawa will be the home of on-ice and off-ice training for Ottawa. TD Place hosts the CFL’s Ottawa REDBLACKS, the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s, the CEBL’s Ottawa BlackJacks, CPL’s Atletico Ottawa, and many other live events.
“We are thrilled to call The Arena at Place our home,” said Mike Hirshfeld, PWHL Ottawa General Manager, in the team’s press release. “The history of the arena, including hosting the first ever women’s world ice hockey championship in 1990, is something we are excited to be a part of. Adrian Sciarra and his team have been incredibly welcoming to our franchise, going above and beyond to help us get settled and prepare for our first ever training camp later this week. We have a brand-new dressing room designed specifically for our team that I know our coaches and players will love. The Glebe neighbourhood is a beautiful area in which to live and work, and the development of Lansdowne Park over the last decade makes this one of the premier locations for the PWHL.”
At the start of training camp, the PWHL dropped jersey designs and colors for the inaugural season. Ottawa’s color scheme consists of red, storm, and white. Their home jersey will be predominantly red, while the away jerseys will be mostly white.
As training camps roll along, rosters for the inaugural season have begun to take shape.
As of right now, Ottawa has 23 players signed to contracts for the inaugural PWHL season.
Emily Clark, Brianne Jenner, and Emerance Maschmeyer were the first three to sign contracts with Ottawa on September 5th, 2023, which were signed during the initial free agency period. Each one signed a three-year contract.
Final rosters for each PWHL team must include 23 players signed to Standard Player Agreements, plus two Reserve Player Contracts.
Below are the players who have signed with Ottawa for the inaugural PWHL season.
